Belting Range Chapter 2 - Rubber Belts

In this chapter, we will introduce the following 4 type of belts
- Banded Belt
- Automotive Belt
- Double V Belt
- Power Rib Belt

Banded Belt

Introduction

Banded belts helps eliminate belt whip and turnover compared to conventional belt drives. It assures high lateral rigidly, guiding the belt in a straight line & preventing it from coming off the drive, even under severe shock loads. The concave sidewall of the belt provide proper cord support & full contact with the sheave-groove for equal loading & uniform wear. Strongly bonded belt which results in equal load distribution & absorption of bending stress without cord deterioration thus prolonging belt life.

Applications
  • For industrial machinery with pulsating/shock loads. e.g. Crushers, compressors & etc
  • Drives in which the natural vibrations of a belt set may have an adverse effect on the operation of machine. e.g. Lathes, cutters & grinders

Automotive Belt

Introduction

The molded cog on automotive belts help to increases flexibility & have higher load capacity. These belts have technically good design to high wear & deformation resistant. They are oil and heat resistant.

Applications

  • Agriculture harvester
  • Motorbike
  • Outdoor power equipments
  • Cars

Double V Belt

Introduction

Double V belts has been extensively used for power transmission on machinery & equipment V belt adapts to the requirements of heavy power, high speed, long lifetime, small distortion & small space occupation. They are anti-static and have long lifetime which reduces number of replacement & maintenance cost.

Applications
  • The double V profile of the belt makes it suitable for drives with an S-bend and in which both sides of the belt have to be used for transmitting power. This type of drive is especially used in textile & agricultural machinery.

Power Rib Belt

Introduction

Power Rib Belts are extremely flexible and capable to work on small pulley diameters & serpentine drives. The Trapezoid faced ribs on a fibre reinforced matrix of base gives higher power transmission. They offers less vibrations, absorb shocks, low stretch & excellent behavior under tension. They are oil & heat resistant offering long service life & resistant to wear & tear and facilitate quiet running of the equipment.

Applications
  • Work tools such as harvester combines, power driven sprayer and engine
  • Machine tools such as NC lathes, mill, drill & grind machine
  • Broadcasting equipment drives & hovercrafts
  • Compact drives with high speed ratios
  • For drives requiring minimum maintenance & noise-sensitive environment
  • For serpentine drives, V-flat drives and drives with reverse bend idler
